I enter my Garden Home on the terrace by the fountain stream (or creativity stream). I’m feeling the stone steps beneath me where I’m sitting that lead down to the stream. Around me, the leaves of the trees rustle in the wind. I listen as I watch the water flow by.
Sanat comes up behind me where I sit at the top of the steps. He sits beside me and takes my hand into his.
“How are you doing this morning?”
“I don’t know,” I say with smile. “But I can tell you what’s on my mind.”
“No. How are you doing?” He places more emphasis on his question.
“I’m a bit confused, Sanat. Could you rephrase your question? The one you used seems generic and ambiguous to me. I just got out of bed. Do I tell you how I’m feeling? What is it that you’re wanting to know?”
His eyes twinkle as he leans towards me. “Capitalize ‘you’ and you will see what I mean.”
“I’m seeing that ‘You’ as my True Soul Self, perhaps? And ‘doing’ leads me to look at how well my True Soul Self is manifesting in the world – how well it is expressing Itself.”
“You’re missing the obvious a little bit. I’m referring to you,” he says as he touches the center of my chest,” as being your True Soul Self. You are that.”
“Oh.” I feel a bit confused and it shows on my face.
“That confusion is precisely what’s getting in the way. It’s a misidentification that you’re holding in your mind. Your True Soul Self is the expression of your Soul in this world. When you are in expression of the ego mind, your True Soul Self that is you becomes dormant. They cannot express simultaneously. Choice activates one or the other.”
“So, there is not a third aspect of me making the choice? That’s what it seems like, and it has confused me.”
He holds my hand again and gently caresses it with his thumb. “You are your True Soul Self waking up. At first the ego mind showed you what you are not. Then as you made your Soul connections, you began learning who you actually are. Your sense of a third is simply the ego mind’s projection attempting to retain control of your life.”
“Well then, I have some ideas about how to increase my ‘doing’.”
He smiles. “Yes, you do.”
